5 Things to Do Before Starting a YouTube Channel

Are you ready to start a YouTube channel but don't know where to begin? You’re not alone. A successful YouTube channel requires proper planning and strategy. Before you hit the upload button, there are a few things that you need to consider. Let's go over five important questions that will help you get your channel off the ground.

Before you start a YouTube channel you need to ask yourself these 5 questions:

1. What is the main goal of my channel?

The first step in launching your YouTube channel is to decide what its purpose is. Are you creating videos for brand awareness, affiliate sales, selling products, building a community, or teaching something? All of these are great options but it’s important to be clear about what direction you want your channel to grow in.

2. Who am I creating videos for?

Once you have established why you are creating content on YouTube, it's time to think about who that content is actually intended for. Who is your target audience and how can they benefit from the content being produced? Figuring out who your audience helps determine what kind of content should be created and how it should be presented.

3. What am I going to use for my camera, light source, and audio?

Many aspiring YouTubers think they need expensive equipment before they start their channels but this isn't always necessary. Start with what you have available such as your mobile phone camera, natural sunlight as a light source, and headphones with a microphone for audio recording. If possible, invest in some basic lighting and audio gear to ensure that your videos look professional and sound great!

4. How many videos am I going to commit to publishing per week/month?

Decide how often you want to publish new videos so that viewers can expect consistent content from your channel. Maybe it's once a week or twice a month - whatever works best for you! Stick to that schedule so viewers know when new content will be released on a regular basis.

5. What kind of videos do I want to create?

This one may take some time because there are endless possibilities when it comes to video topics! Brainstorm ideas related to different aspects of life or interests such as cooking recipes, DIY projects, fashion trends, and travel tips - just remember the goal of why you started this journey in the first place!

Once you know the answer to most of these questions, you'll be able to start your own channel with ease!

Starting a YouTube Channel can seem intimidating at first but if done right it can be extremely rewarding! Taking the time now to answer these five questions can help set up a strong foundation for success later down the road when launching a YouTube Channel becomes more real than just an idea! Good luck with crafting those killer videos!
